Plateau Police Arrest 15 Suspected Criminals Posing as Riders

The Plateau State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb insecurity with the arrest of fifteen suspected criminals posing as commercial motorcyclists across the state.

The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation based on credible intelligence indicating an influx of criminal elements disguising themselves as legitimate motorcycle operators. According to the police, members of the gang often covered their faces with masks while carrying out illicit activities.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed this in a statement issued in Jos, the state capital. He noted that the ongoing operation is expected to lead to additional arrests.

“In support of the Plateau State Government’s renewed drive to restore peace, a total ban was recently imposed on commercial motorcycle activities in the state,” the statement read.

“Despite this directive, some individuals have continued to violate the order, putting innocent residents at risk.”

Alabo warned individuals migrating into the state with criminal intentions to desist and leave immediately, adding that the police had launched a comprehensive manhunt for such groups.

“We will not hesitate to enforce the full weight of the law on anyone involved in criminal activity,” he added.

The suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, appealed to residents to support the Command by providing timely and useful information, assuring that informants’ identities would be protected.

“Together, we can make Plateau State safer for everyone,” he said.
