A Factional acting National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Callistus Uju Okafor, has faulted the party’s Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, for not reaching out to him when he joined the party in 2022; after he insisted that the former Anambra governor was aware that there was leadership crisis in the party.

Okafor had said, “Obi is my brother; my senior brother, and leader; and he knows that his brother from Anambra State is in this party; and he knows there is a problem. As a brother, he would have said, ‘Let me see this man and hear from him’.”

Okafor, who spoke during an interview on Arise Television, faulted Obi for not taking any step after he found out that there was crisis in the party. According to him, those who are against the ambitions of the former Anambra governor asked him not to reach out. He maintained that he had tried to reach out to Obi to end the crisis in the party because he did not want to hinder the former Anambra governor from actualizing his dream, but he refused to pick up his calls.

Okafor said he had no other choice than to seek redress in the court. He narrated how Julius Abure emerged as the National Chairman of the party after Abubakar Abdulsalam died; and insisted that Abure was not next in line to the seat. He said he is the Deputy National Chairman (South), and should be the Chairman according to the party’s constitution.
