Northern Women Hail Defence Minister Matawalle For Tackling Insecurity

The Northern Women Association of Nigeria (NWAN) has commended Dr. Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, for his commitment to addressing insecurity, including kidnapping and sexual violence, across northern Nigeria.

In a statement released on Monday, the association’s spokesperson, Rukayya Faruk Malun Fashi, highlighted improvements in security and daily life attributed to Matawalle’s efforts.

“Before now, we couldn’t go to farms or markets due to the fear of kidnappings and insecurity. But today, we can return to these activities with a sense of safety,” she said, noting a significant reduction in kidnappings following the minister’s intervention during his visit to Sokoto State.

Matawalle’s approach, marked by direct engagement with local communities and strengthened coordination among security agencies, has brought relief to many areas previously plagued by violence.

His initiatives have bolstered security presence in vulnerable regions and reinforced efforts to combat banditry and kidnapping.

NWAN emphasized that Matawalle’s leadership has provided hope for residents, particularly women and farmers, who have borne the brunt of insecurity.

The association noted that his efforts have not only restored peace but also allowed economic activities like farming and trading to resume, fostering socio-economic growth in affected communities.

The group urged continued support for Matawalle’s initiatives, expressing confidence in his ability to sustain progress and expand security measures. His work, they said, reflects the federal government’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in Nigeria.
