No political vendetta in revocation of Abia Hotel C of O, recovery – Govt

Abia State government has said that the revocation of Certificate of Occupancy and recovery of Abia Hotels, Umuahia, from an investor was not a political vendetta against Abia politicians in the opposition parties.

The State government also said that it paid full compensation to the Co-investor, Mr. Randi Ukanwoko in October 2025 before taking possession of the facility in November 2025.

Mr. Randi Obinna Ukanwoko of Investment Guarantee Limited had in an interview he granted last week, alleged that Abia State government revoked, sealed and demolished Abia Hotels, Umuahia, which his company was managing, claiming that the action of the State government was to punish him for hosting an APC event in the facility, among other allegations.

But responding to the investor’s allegations, Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu said that the takeover of the Hotel was legally done after the money for compensation had been deposited in Ukanwoko’s personal bank account.

Kanu, who appealed to Abia public to disregard the allegations of political persecution, accused the investor of peddling falsehood against the Abia State government.

The government said the investor breached every single term contained in the agreement, describing such an action as an affront.

It explained that there was a discussion between the government and the investor before he was paid compensation.

Contributing, the General Manager, Umuahia Capital Development Authority, UCDA, Mr. Kingsley Agomuo disclosed the state government paid the investor in October 2025 before the place was sealed.
