Nigerian nurse heartbroken as she loses her job in the UK after praying for sick patient

A Nigerian nurse employed in the UK has lost her job after offering a prayer for a terminally ill patient in her care, leading to a complaint by the patient and her subsequent termination from employment.

The incident came to light through Raks Eseku, a Nigerian mental health nurse based in the UK, who narrated the story without disclosing the nurse’s identity.

The nurse, who had been assigned to care for a patient suffering from a terminal illness, reportedly decided to conduct a prayer session for the ailing patient.

She passionately prayed for the patient’s recovery, asserting that the illness would not claim her life.

The patient, upon experiencing this religious intervention, conveyed her concerns to a family member, who subsequently reported the incident to the hospital authorities.

In response, the hospital administration summoned the nurse for questioning regarding her actions.

Following an investigation into the matter, the hospital ultimately decided to terminate her employment.

While the nurse’s identity remains undisclosed, Raks Eseku shared her account of the incident and offered a piece of advice to healthcare workers in the UK.

She emphasized the importance of refraining from imposing their personal beliefs on patients and the potential consequences such actions might entail.
