Nigeria recorded improved economy, security under my administration — Buhari

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has said his administration recorded significant achievements.

According to him, the country’s economy and security improved significantly compared to when he took over from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in 2015.

Mr Buhari stated this on Wednesday when he received members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Daura.

Reminiscing on his term in office, Mr Buhari said he inherited a bad economy and security challenges from the PDP, which was in government for 16 years.

Mr Buhari, however, asserted that his government’s strategies successfully tackled these challenges, curbing terrorism and economic hardship.

“Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” he said.

While acknowledging the challenges in governing a complex country like Nigeria, the former president noted that only those in positions of power truly understand the administrative obstacles.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, commended Mr Buhari for some of his achievements in office, including tackling terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges.

Mr Ibrahim-Jargaba also commended the former president’s hard work, dedication, and selfless service, which he believes helped maintain the country’s unity.
