NHRC Collaborates With NSCDC To Protect The Rights Of Women, Children And Persons With Disabilities

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have collaborated to safeguard the rights of women, kids and Persons With Disabilities (PWDS).

The State Co-ordinator, NHRC, Lagos State Chapter, Mr Lucas Koyejo, recently visited the office of the State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, to discuss plans to make the partnership a success.

Lucas said that the aim of the visit was to ensure the partnership yields positive fruits that will better protect vulnerable people across Nigeria.

He maintained that there is a clear need to ensure these vulnerable groups, including persons living with HIV, TB and other health issues, are shielded from all kinds of discrimination and criminalisation.

According to Adedotun Keshinro, NHRC deserves praise for visiting NSCDC’s Lagos office to reiterate its readiness to care for citizens who are in dire need of protection.

He revealed that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps doesn’t just focus on safeguarding vulnerable groups, NSCDC also takes gender sensitivity very seriously while dealing with Nigerians.

Keshinro further noted that the command will continue to maintain an effective partnership with other security agencies in Nigeria, in a bid to ensure delays during investigations of criminal cases become a thing of the past.

On the 8th of May, 2025, the NHRC and NSCDC officially agreed to work together for the growth of Nigeria, especially in the area of training, and with the protection of the rights of citizens who are classified under vulnerable groups.
