NALDA Launches Major Empowerment Programme For Women And Youths In Osun State

The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has launched the Renewed Hope Women and Youth Empowerment Programme in Oba-Oke, Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State.

While speaking to guests and partners, the Executive Secretary of NALDA, Dr. Cornelius Adebayo, recently revealed that the initiative is a developmental programme by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make life better for Nigeria’s middle economic class.

According to Cornelius, the programme aimed at transforming poultry production across Osun State will ensure each of the 80 chosen beneficiaries receives two poultry cages, 20 three-week-old poultry birds, and 4 bags of top-quality poultry feed.

He said that the beneficiaries of the scheme will be expected to nurture the birds for 3-4 more weeks before dedicated off-takers eventually pay good money for the developed poultry.

The Executive Secretary also disclosed that profits generated from the initiative will be shared among NALDA, the beneficiaries, and the community at large, and this will aid the creation of an achievable cycle of reinvestment and growth that will usher in new participants.

Adebayo shed more light on NALDA’s history by highlighting how it was initially established in 1992 before it was discontinued and later re-established by ex-President Muhammadu Buhari in 2020.

He shared that the National Agricultural Land Development Authority has always been known for working on exciting infrastructure projects and cash crop plantations across several states, with different communities readily giving away their lands to aid its activities.

“NALDA’s core mandate is comprehensive agricultural land development, from bush clearing and land preparation to management, storage solutions, and strategic marketing.

Through partnerships with private and public sectors, processing facilities, community organizations, and international partners, we are working tirelessly to drive Nigeria towards competitive food security and agricultural export revitalization,” he said.

He maintained that even if NALDA is currently operating under a political umbrella, the Renewed Hope agenda is more than politics, and its dream to establish a working social enterprise that will guarantee continuous profit shouldn’t be misconstrued as an agenda by politicians.

He then begged participants to abide by the terms and conditions of participation, assuring beneficiaries that the programme would gradually reach every part of Osun State and beyond.
