A young Nigerian lady who just graduated from the university paid a surprise visit to her mother at the market to celebrate with her.

Following her successful graduation from school, the lady urged her mother to sign her shirt to complete the signing out tradition common in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The daughter then brought out a bundle of mint naira notes and began showering her mother with the cash while she smiled from cheek to cheek.

She captioned; “Mom I made it. I fulfilled my promise.”

A Nigerian man identified as Akorede J. Ayanbisi, has bagged a bachelor’s degree in finance after spending 10 years in the university.

He took to Twitter to celebrate and shared a touching story of how he finished from secondary school in 2011, but could not gain admission until six years later.

The fresh graduate of the University of Lagos said he enrolled into the National Open University NOUN, Abuja in 2014 after several failed attempts to study Accounting.

Akorede said that in 2017, he was motivated by some course mates and decided to sit for JAMB exams again, and he gained admission to study Finance at UNILAG.

In May 2023, he narrated; I’ve always wanted to pursue my university education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

In 2011, I completed high school and attempted the JAMB exams in 2011, 2012 and 2013, hoping to be admitted to study Accounting at UNILAG. Unfortunately, I wasn’t granted admission during those years.

In 2014, due to my frustrations with the admission process, I decided to enroll at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to study Accounting.

In 2017, during my final year and first semester at NOUN, I was inspired by my twin friends who were also my course-mates. One of them gained admission to UNILAG in 2015, and the other in 2016.

Motivated by their success, I took the JAMB again in 2017, determined not to give up on my dream of studying at UNILAG. Thankfully, I was offered admission to study Finance at UNILAG.
