May 29: Nigerian Women Who Sworn in As Deputy Governors of Their Respective States (Photos)

According to Daily Trust paper, about 24 females contested for the office of Deputy Governor during the 18th March gubernatorial elections but only 6 women were elected and sworn in on May 29, as deputy governors of the male governors of their respective states.

However, in this article, I will be discussing about 6 women who were sworn in as deputy governors on May 29.

Dr. Hadiza Balarabe Sabuwa (Kaduna)

Sabuwa, who is the first female deputy governor in Kaduna State, was first elected as deputy governor alongside Governor Nasiru Elrufai in 2019 under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC. 

On May 29, the train medical doctor was sworn in as Kaduna State deputy governor for the second term alongside Governor Uba Sani.

Josephine Piyo (Plateau)

Piyo, who is the former Chairperson of Riyom Local Government Area, was elected under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the deputy governor to Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, during the 2023 gubernatorial elections.

Piyo alongside her boss Caleb Mutfwang were sworn in yesterday, Monday, 29th May, 2023.

Dr. Akon Eyakenyi (Akwa Ibom)

Eyakenyi, who is the former senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, was sworn in as the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State governor, Umo Eno, under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.

Dr. Ngozi Nma Odu (Rivers)

Dr. Ngozi, who is the Professor of Food and Public Health Microbiology at the PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, was sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Rivers State.

Patricia Obila (Ebonyi)

Obila is the elected deputy governor of Ebonyi State under APC.

Engr Noimot Salako Oyedele (Ogun)

Noimat has been the deputy governor of Ogun State governor since 2019. Noimot and her boss were elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
