Mass protest rocks Tehran over Israel strike, citizens demand retaliation

Thousands of Iranians flooded the streets of Tehran on Friday in a mass protest against Israel, following their weekly prayers, as tensions between the two countries entered their second week of open conflict.

State television aired live footage of the demonstrations, showing crowds waving Iranian and Hezbollah flags while chanting pro-government and anti-Israel slogans.

Many protesters held up portraits of senior Iranian military commanders killed since the conflict began.

“This is the Friday of the Iranian nation’s solidarity and resistance across the country,” a state TV news anchor said during the broadcast.

One banner held aloft by a protester read, “I will sacrifice my life for my leader,” in a clear show of allegiance to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Similar demonstrations were reported in other Iranian cities, including Tabriz in the northwest and Shiraz in the south.

The protest comes on the heels of unending exchanges of fire between Israel and Iran.
