Manchester United Players Take Full Responsibility For The Europa League Final Defeat – Luke Shaw

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has said that MUFC players need to question whether they are good enough to be at the club or not.

He recently revealed that the defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final was more than damaging.

Speaking during an interview after the game, Shaw said that there must be major changes at the club this summer, especially because many players are expected to leave.

According to him, it is very hard to describe the season MUFC just had, and the unerwhelming results and performances have been nothing short of unacceptable.

“It’s hard to put into words the season, but I think for a club like Manchester United it’s not really good enough. I think definitely me, and I think all of us have to question ourselves tonight.

Are we good enough to be here? Because this club, this season, it’s not acceptable. We know that and it’s down to us.

“I think it’s really tough to take. I think we have to look at ourselves. Something has to change,” he said.

The England international insisted that Rubem Amorim remains the best man for the job because he is 100% the right manager to effect the changes needed at Old Trafford.

Shaw praised the Portuguese coach for having the right mindset to want to fix the club’s image and set new standards.

He then apologised to supporters for letting them down despite their constant show of support and dedication to the club.

“I think there’s a lot of things that need to be changed, I think that’s why Ruben is 100% the right person. He knows and he can see day in and day out at the club, not just on the pitch but off the pitch, around the club.

The standards, the mindset, I think he sees everything. I think he knows what he needs to change,” Shaw said.

Speaking on MUFC fans, Luke noted that he and his teammates are ready to face all the criticism from the fans, reiterating that they all take full responsibility for the defeat.

“I think everyone knew how big this game was. It’s extremely damaging. We’ll have to stand up and take the criticism. Because like I said, us as players, it’s not been nowhere near good enough for a club like Manchester United.

We take full responsibility but I’d just like to say sorry to them for this season,” he added.
