Man Who Breached Security At Tinubu’s Kaduna Event Is Mentally Unstable – Police

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced that the man who breached security during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to the state is mentally unstable.

The police recently shared that the man simply acted out of excitement, not with ill intent.

Speaking via a press statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, revealed that the individual, named Umar Mohammed, is a resident of Anguwan Muazu in Kaduna South Local Government Area who has a documented history of psychiatric illness.

According to him, Umar was one of the many enthusiastic supporters granted access to the Murtala Square venue for the presidential visit, and he wore APC-branded attire while carrying banners bearing images of the President and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.

Initially appearing calm, DSP Hassan stated that Umar suddenly breached the security barrier in an attempt to get closer to President Tinubu, but he was instantly intercepted and arrested by security operatives.

“He breached the protocol and jumped into the arena out of curiosity and excitement to catch a closer look at the President. He was immediately intercepted and arrested by security operatives stationed at the inner cordon,” he said.

DSP Hassan stated that a thorough search on Umar revealed no dangerous weapon, and he has since said that he acted that way because he admires President Tinubu and Governor Sani a lot.

CP Rabiu Muhammad further urged Nigerians against falling victim to the doctored version of the video that has been circulating online, saying that it is the handiwork of those who are trying to politicize the incident.

“It is important to note that the viral video was doctored and misrepresented with the intent to mislead the public and politicise the matter. Those found culpable in the spread of this falsehood will be invited for questioning and prosecuted as necessary.

The matter is under investigation and those spreading falsehoods will be invited for questioning and will be prosecuted if found culpable,” he added.
