According to Yunusa Tanko, chairman of the Labour Party, more Nigerians would be celebrating right now if Peter Obi had been elected president.

In the interview, a spokeswoman for the Labour Party presidential campaign committee stated that things have been looking dismal since Bola Tinubu was elected president.

He said that those who accepted the election results did so only because they were resolved to make the most of a terrible situation.

However, he emphasized that Nigerians cannot simply keep adjusting to whatever issues they confront. He said this while knowing full well that the present administration’s eight years in office were difficult.

Consider, Yunusa Tanko, if Peter Obi’s name had been read out as president-elect. People would have been sipping water on the tarmac after seeing the hope and possibility of a new Nigeria. Now, though, it’s the other way around; the announcement was made under the worst-case scenario, and no one appears to care.

That certainly sends a message, and I can assure you that the people of Nigeria are not pleased. Some people are solely concerned with the present situation. But how much longer can we ignore what has happened? We’re still fearful, and we don’t have much respect from the world community, so we can’t get from point A to point B.
