I’m Not Sure Liverpool Players Have What It Takes To Be Serial Winners – Arne Slot

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has said that he wants his players to challenge for the EPL title again next season.

He recently revealed that he wants every Liverpool player to prove that they can become serial winners.

Speaking to the press ahead of his final EPL match for the season, Slot revealed that he’ll only know if his players have what it takes to compete for the trophy again when they return for preseason training in July.

The EP champion noted that while he knows that Liverpool players have what it takes to compete for the trophy again next season, he’ll remain unsure about their serial winner mentality until they prove it beyond all reasonable doubt.

According to him, many football clubs have had the opportunity to win the EPL in the past, but very few teams proved that they had in them to keep winning it for multiple seasons amid intense competition and against quality rivals.

“I think we have a lot to compete next season again but what I don’t know yet, and that’s going to be the interesting one, is if we have this elite mentality, this serial winner mentality of showing up season after season, I think I will see that on July 8 when we’re all back together.

“Many teams have won the Premier League once but not many have won it multiple seasons in a row and that’s for a reason. First of all, because it’s difficult because not every player has that elite mentality,” he said.

On if the reaction of the fans to Trent could dampen the celebrations, the ex-Feyenoord disclosed that since everyone who would be at the stadium would deserve to be there, he hopes the focus would be on celebrating the club’s amazing EPL season.

Slot concluded by saying that Trent has been part of very successful years at Liverpool, therefore, he deserves a lot of respect.

“I think this should be a day that everybody is going to enjoy. It’s been 35 years that Liverpool have been waiting for this moment. I think we set the example against Tottenham.

I am hoping that we can add a moment like this to it and I think everybody that’s in the stadium deserves to be there. The fans, the staff but also the players and one of my players is Trent, so he definitely deserves to be there as well because he’s been part of incredible successful season and incredibly successful years at this club,” he added.
