IGP LAUDS COURAGE OF OFFICERS IN ADELABU FAMILY RESCUE MISSION

The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, and made available to journalists in Abuja.

According to the statement, the IGP lauded the courage, professionalism and operational efficiency displayed by the officers, noting that their dedication and resilience played a crucial role in securing the safe release of the victims.

Mrs. Adegoke and her children were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State, on June 3, 2026, while she was taking the twins to school.

The statement disclosed that the victims regained their freedom during a coordinated operation carried out by FID-IRT operatives at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Police said the rescue followed days of intensive intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations that enabled investigators to track the kidnappers’ movements and launch a successful intervention.

During the operation, security operatives engaged the suspects in a confrontation, leading to the fatal wounding of two alleged kidnappers. Two rifles were also recovered from the scene.

The statement noted that the victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in protective custody, where they are receiving medical care and other necessary support.

Meanwhile, efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping gang who escaped during the operation.

According to the police, preliminary intelligence suggests that some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries while escaping.

The force assured the public that ongoing operations are aimed at apprehending all those connected to the abduction and ensuring they are brought to justice.
