The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the demobilisation and redeployment of several Inspectors and other rank-and-file officers from different Police Mobile Force squadrons across the country.
The decision was contained in an internal police signal obtained by reporters, with reference number “CH:5660/DOPS/PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.89/196” and dated May 18, 2026.
According to the document, which was issued by the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the directive was signed on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations.
The communication was sent to Commanding Officers of PMF squadrons in several locations, including Keffi, Ibadan, Yola, Ilorin, Abeokuta, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Ikeja, Asaba, Ado-Ekiti, Lokoja, Gusau, Zaria, Oghara, Ikorodu, Shendam, Takum, Obudu, Okene and Ilaro.
The signal stated that the affected personnel were to be withdrawn from the Police Mobile Force and reassigned to their various state commands on “health and compassionate grounds.”
The Police Mobile Force serves as the tactical unit of the Nigeria Police Force and is regularly involved in riot control operations, counter-insurgency duties and other internal security assignments nationwide.
Among the officers affected are Inspector Ibrahim James, moved from 16PMF to Kogi State Command; Inspector Garba Shehu from 19PMF to Rivers State Command; Woman Inspector Osi Fatimo from 2PMF to Lagos State Command; and Inspector Wangkat Danfa from 44PMF to Plateau State Command.
Others listed in the directive include Inspector Korah Joshua from 2PMF to Borno State Command; Inspector Ayibaemi Youbogha from 75PMF to Bayelsa State Command; Woman Inspector Patience Mbagwu from 48PMF to Rivers State Command; and Inspector Saidu Abubakar from 67PMF to Yobe State Command.
The redeployment also affected Inspector Kenedy Ishaya from 2PMF to Lagos State Command, Inspector Albert Eguabor from 20PMF to Lagos State Command, Inspector Adah Hycienth from 2PMF to Borno State Command and Inspector Sohide Dassak from 66PMF to Plateau State Command.
Other names on the list are Inspector Bleno Reuben from 14PMF to Adamawa State Command, Inspector Igbinogun Uyi from 51PMF to Edo State Command, Inspector Tijjani Abdullahi from 48PMF to Rivers State Command and Inspector Opara Elizabeth from 18PMF to Imo State Command.
Also affected are Inspector Yakubu Samari from 14PMF to Adamawa State Command, Inspector Alaje Ayo from 22PMF to Ondo State Command, Inspector Olowa Taiye from 15PMF to Kwara State Command and Inspector Jibrin Shuaib from 45PMF to the Federal Capital Territory Command.
Further postings include Inspector Odeyemi Isaac from 37PMF to Rivers State Command, Inspector Ashiweh Olanifẹ from 31PMF to Delta State Command, Inspector Otayo Adebayo from 33PMF to Ekiti State Command and Inspector Nonbas Shamsu Usman from 47PMF to Kaduna State Command.
The list also included several non-commissioned officers, among them Sergeant Kabir Abdullahi from 22PMF to Kaduna State Command, Sergeant Mubarak Isiya from 42PMF to Sokoto State Command and Sergeant Egwu Egwu from 4PMF to Delta State Command.
Others are Corporal Saifullahi Wamba from 63PMF to Kano State Command, Corporal Aminu Sani from 84PMF to Kano State Command, Corporal Selnan Lamsing from 63PMF to the FCT Command, Corporal Muttaka Muktar from 63PMF to Kano State Command and Corporal Safiyanu Abubakar from 45PMF to Bauchi State Command.
Corporal Aminu Tukur was redeployed from 20PMF to Katsina State Command, while Police Constable Muhammad Ibrahim was moved from 22PMF to Kano State Command.
The latest redeployment comes days after another internal police reshuffle approved by the Inspector-General of Police involving officers in the Edo State Command.
That earlier transfer, reported on May 13, 2026, was contained in a police signal dated May 12, 2026, with reference number CH: 5360/EDS/VOL.15/55.
The directive, issued from the office of the Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, Edo State Command Headquarters in Benin City, stated that the transfers were part of an ongoing administrative reorganisation within the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the document, the postings were approved by the Inspector-General of Police and followed an earlier police communication referenced CH: 5360/FS/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.42/185 dated May 3, 2026.
