If Obi Had Won The Election, Nigerians Would Have Been In Trouble Because Of His Attitude- Akinwale

Tawfiq Akinwale, a candidate for governor on the Labour Party’s ballot in Oyo State in the 2023 election, has expressed his thanks to God for the defeat of Peter Obi, the party’s nominee for president. He claimed that Peter Obi is intolerant of other Muslim Nigerians and that, if Obi had won the election, his attitude would have put Nigerians in grave danger. He made this statement in an interview with Symfoni , which Sahara Reporters also covered.

He called Peter Obi a pretender and declared that he shouldn’t be allowed to lead Nigeria. In the most recent election, he claimed that he was one of only two Muslims among the 12 Labour Party governorship candidates running across the nation. He claimed that the party’s governorship candidate in Sokoto defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) because Peter Obi did not introduce him when they went on the campaign trail and did not make him relevant.

Speaking further, he claimed that Obi had treated the party’s candidate for governor of Taraba State and his running mate in a similar manner, as well as doing so in Kano, and that this behavior was the reason they had quit the party even before the election because of Obi’s attitude.

The Peter Obi you know is a fraud; the Peter Obi you know is a pretender, he said. Peter Obi represents all the bigots in this world because he is unfit to be in charge of this nation. Praise be to God Almighty who prevented him from winning the election. Because of his attitude, Nigerians would have had a serious problem if he had won.

“What I noticed—and I could be wrong here—was that there were 12 of us running for governor of the Labour Party in that election. You are aware that some states declined to enter the competition at the time. However, out of the 12 of us, I was the only Muslim. However, I noticed that the Sokoto candidate for governor switched to the APC during the campaigns because the other candidate was not introduced when the Sokoto candidate went on the campaign trail”. Despite finishing a distant third in the race and claiming that he had won the election, Peter Obi lost to Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC.
