Fast-rising artist Oluwabukunmi Ariyibi, a.k.a. Kunmie, has said that his hit single “Arike” is more than just a song.
He recently described the soothing record as a personal breakthrough.
Speaking during an interview with Saturday Beats, Kunmie revealed that he never cared about the numbers when he dropped the song, and he was more concerned about the tune helping listeners who needed comfort.
The artist shared that he actually felt free after he was done recording the song in 2023.
According to him, he believed in the track as soon as he recorded it, and he kept trusting God to get to the right people who are badly in need of peace of mind.
“I believed in the record. I didn’t care about the numbers; I just wanted God to get it to the right people who needed comfort. ‘Arike’ is more than a song; it represents a breakthrough for me. I made it in 2023, and the moment it was done, I felt free,” he said.
He also disclosed that music is a divine calling for him, not a passion, and it is God who blessed him with the gift of singing.
Promising that he hasn’t even started yet, the musician stated that he has an amazing team and they’re working towards the future that God has shown them.
“I’ve always had the feeling that God blessed me with the gift of music, and I’ve trusted Him to lead me. I haven’t even started yet. The vision is way bigger than what people see, and it’s in God’s hands. I have a great team, and we’re working toward the future He has shown us,” Kunmie said.
On his struggles, he maintained that he prefers to wait until the time is right to share that part of his musical journey.
“I haven’t spoken much about my struggles because I have deep respect for my journey. When the time is right, I’ll unpack that part of the story,” he added.
