Former BBNaija housemate Kiddwaya has responded to public criticism over his call for donations to support victims of the ongoing crisis in Benue State.
He recently shared that his gesture was not for clout, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Speaking via his social media page, the son of a billionaire revealed that his concern came from a place of genuine concern, and out of love for his state of origin, Benue.
According to him, he only took down the post asking for donations to respect the feelings of Nigerians who misunderstood his intentions and got triggered.
Emphasising that he is only concerned about the innocent Benue victims, he said that the tragedy was very heartbreaking for him as a proud Benue man.
The reality star clarified that seeing innocent residents losing their lives and families getting ruined prompted him to do something to ease the situation.
“I didn’t post about Benue for clout. I did it because I care. I’m a proud Benue man, and what’s happening there is heartbreaking. I took the post down not out of shame but out of respect for the voices speaking out—even the angry ones.
Families are being torn apart. Innocent lives are being lost. That’s the tragedy,” he said.
Kiddwaya vowed to keep supporting his people via his foundation, stressing that even if he knows he can’t solve the crisis on his own, he won’t hesitate to play his own role.
He concluded by saying that he will never stop speaking up when people’s lives are in danger.
“This was never about me—it’s about the people of Benue. I won’t stop showing up when lives are on the line,” he added.
