DSS Finally Arrests CBN Gov Emefiele After Failed Attempts

Immediately upon his suspension by President Bola Tinubu, the Department of State Services (DSS) detained Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Emefiele’s suspension by President Tinubu did not come as a surprise to many because the CBN governor has faced intense criticism for allegedly mismanaging the country’s monetary policies. His suspension was announced in a statement that stated it was due to “ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.”

Emefiele’s suspension is effective right away, according to Willie Bassey, the director of information at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. After the suspension, the DSS moved quickly to arrest Emefiele, purportedly so that he could be questioned.

According to THE WHISTLER, Emefiele had been sought after by the DSS for arrest before to President Tinubu’s election on charges of allegedly supporting terrorist activities.
