A High Court in Ikeji on Tuesday, December 15, dismissed an application filed by the head of Genesis Parish of the Celestial Church of Christ, Alagbado, Lagos Prophet Israel Ogundipe for a post-conviction bail due to health complications.

On November 18, Prophet Israel Ogundipe was sentenced 1 year in prison over conversion of property not delivered and stealing an amount of 17 million naira.

According to a report by Akpraise.ng, defending the bail application, his counsel, Olanrewaju Ajanaku, in a 16-paragraph affidavit, said Ogundipe is suffering from diabetes, which requires a strict diet and specialized medical attention which cannot be provided in the correctional centre.

Ajanaku also revealed that his client was battling hypertension, peptic ulcer and unending malaria, before his conviction, which has worsened, making him look pale.

However, Olabisi Akinlade, judge of the Ikeja high court, rejected the bail application and ordered the Lagos-based pastor to continue serving his sentence at the Kirikiri correctional centre.

Olabisi Akinlade said Ogundipe had not proved his case to convince the court to grant him bail.
