Collect politicians’ money but vote your preferred candidate – Buhari to electorate

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on the Nigerian electorates to accept any money offered to them by politicians and still cast their vote for the candidate of their choice.

He stated this on Saturday, March 18 after casting his vote at his polling unit 003, Sarkin Yara A in Daura, Katsina State.

Buhari who spoke with journalists in both English and Hausa languages after thumbprinting the ballot paper, said his administration had been preaching against vote-buying and monetisation of politics.

The president also called on politicians to desist from vote buying and inducement.

“If they (politicians) still give you money, collect, but vote for your preferred candidates,” Buhari said.

According to NAN, the president, who cast his vote at about 9:55 am, refused to ‘openly’ display his ballot paper as he did during the Presidential election on February 25.

He again thanked the electorate for trusting the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Presidential and National Assembly elections where the party’s candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared president-elect.
