The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) reported that five individuals were on board the aircraft during the runway incident. Fortunately, all passengers were safely evacuated without sustaining any injuries, according to Vanguard News.
Mrs. Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, provided details about the ongoing situation. “Our Airport Emergency Response Team is currently at the scene, working alongside accident investigators,” she stated. The airport authorities are actively clearing the runway and anticipate reopening operations as soon as possible.
As a precautionary measure, all evacuees were transported to the FAAN clinic for medical evaluation. The incident has captured the attention of aviation professionals, and the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) is expected to release a preliminary report.
Mrs. Orah emphasized the need for restraint, requesting that “all speculation be put on hold until the preliminary report is released.” The aviation community and public are being asked to remain patient during this investigation.
Efforts are currently underway to restore normal airport operations and determine the cause of the aircraft’s runway excursion.
