Moises Caicedo has reportedly been banned from training by Brighton after he took to Instagram to make a public plea for him to be sold to some big clubs that have expressed interest in him.

The Ecuadorian midfielder is at the heart of a huge furore with a number of clubs chasing his services. Chelsea has expressed an interest in him and it was also gathered that Arsenal’s big-money bid for him was rejected by Brighton.

Both clubs are expected to make further bids for Caicedo in the aftermath of his request, although Brighton are adamant that they will not be forced into selling the 21-year-old midway through the season.

After trying to influence his sale through the public plea on Friday evening, some English news platforms have reported that Caicedo has been asked to take some time away from the club until the closure of the transfer window.

As a result, Caicedo will not be part of the Brighton squad to face Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, January 29, but the Seagulls expect him back in training on February 1 and are still counting on him as part of their squad for the remainder of the season.

The Seagulls currently sit sixth in the Premier League under Roberto de Zerbi. They are just five points behind fifth-placed Tottenham with two games in hand.

Despite their impressive form throughout the majority of the campaign, the Seagulls have been decimated by an array of outgoing transfers. Marc Cucurella, Yves Bissouma, and Neal Maupay all bid farewell to the AMEX Stadium in the summer, whilst Leandro Trossard followed them out of the exit door with his switch to Arsenal earlier this month.
