Chinwe Michael, BusinessDay’s journalist, has been selected as one of 20 participants for the fourth cohort of the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MIP).
The programme, run by MTN Nigeria and the School of Media and Communication at Pan-Atlantic University (PAU), commenced on May 19, 2025, and will run through October 24, 2025 is designed to equip journalists with advanced skills in media innovation, technology, and storytelling.
Launched in 2022, the MTN MIP has played a crucial role in advancing the careers of Nigerian journalists, many of whom have progressed to higher positions within the media sector.

The fourth cohort builds upon this legacy, continuing to empower media practitioners to navigate and lead in the rapidly evolving media landscape.
Chinwe is one of 20 fellows selected from a competitive pool of over 3,000 applications for the 2025 MTN-MIP cohort four.
She is a financial inclusion advocate and economy journalist passionate about advocating financial inclusion through compelling storytelling.

With a background in banking and finance, she brings a sharp analytical lens and exceptional attention to detail to every piece she writes. Her expertise spans the accounting, media, and education sectors, giving her a well-rounded perspective that enriches her work.
She holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Banking and Finance from the Federal Polytechnic in Nekede, Owerri.
Before joining BusinessDay, she worked as a tax consultant at Adewale Ogundele & Co, where she completed her National Youth Service program. She is currently at her professional level in the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Chinwe is known for transforming complex financial and technological concepts into accessible, engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.

Other fellows selected for the programme include Adaku Onyenucheya of The Guardian, Adebayo Adeyemi Michael of the Africa Independent Television (AIT), Adebayo Abolaji of New Telegraph, Desmond Okon of The Cable, Precious Igbonwelundu of The Nation, and Royal Ibeh of Leadership Newspapers.
Others are Adekeye Ayobami of ADAMIM ‘O’ GO 93.1 FM, Amarachi Ubani of Channels Television, Blessings Mosugu of News Central TV, Georgina Ndukwe-Ezeanyika of Arise News, Precious David-Ogaga of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Tega Onojaife of Smooth 98.1 FM, Vanessa Richard-Bassey of Sparkling 92.3 FM, and Zainab Adam of SMK Radio 96.5 FM.
In addition, Asukwo Oduo of Pulse Nigeria, David Afolayan of TechNext, Edun Rebecca of Megalometrics, Eshokeme James of Africa News, and Salem King, a digital content creator, were other selected participants.
Speaking on the initiative, Tobe Okigbo, chief corporate services and sustainability officer of MTN Nigeria, said the MIP was created to spark innovation in the media space by equipping journalists and content creators with the tools, exposure and network to thrive in a fast-evolving digital landscape.
