Burkina Faso Holds Nigerian Soldiers After Airspace Breach

At least 11 Nigerian soldiers are being held by the military authorities in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, following an emergency landing of their aircraft after reportedly violating the country’s airspace.

Security analyst Brant Grant confirmed the development on X, citing a statement from the Burkina Faso military, known as AES. According to the statement, a Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft entered Burkinabe airspace without authorization and was forced to make an emergency landing in Bobo-Dioulasso.

The AES warned that any aircraft violating its airspace without clearance would be subject to neutralization.

This incident comes shortly after the Nigerian government deployed military aircraft into Benin Republic on Sunday in response to an attempted coup in the neighboring country.
