Beyoncé Reunites With Destiny’s Child During Epic Coachella 2018 Performance

I stayed up until 4 in the morning to watch Beyoncé, and it was worth every minute.

Finally taking the stage after canceling in 2017 due to her pregnancy, Bey made sure she had the most anticipated and talked-about performances in the festival’s history. Becoming the first Black woman to headline Coachella (a fact that was not lost on her, as she actually called the festival out on that during her performance), Beyoncé put together a near-two hour set inspired by both HBCU Greek letter organizations and marching bands. Backed by a myriad of dancers Bey performed a medley of her hit songs, blending them into other classic songs: at one point she incorporated Snoop Dogg‘s “Down for My N’s” and Juvenile‘s “Back That Azz Up,” at another she blended her own “Drunk In Love” with F.L.Y.‘s “Swag Surfin,’” and all of it was fire.

As expected, she brought out JAY-Z, who joined her for “Déjà Vu,” and reunited with her Destiny’s Child sisters Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for “Say My Name,” “Lose My Breath,” and “Soldier.” Even Solange joined Beyoncé during a performance of “Get Me Bodied.”

This, to me at least, was one of the most memorable Coachella sets since Kanye West‘s 2011 performance. Live-streaming actually made it better: cameras caught nearly every angle, and from the comfort of your couch you likely had a better view of her set than those who were crammed between thousands of other people that actually attended Coachella did. Watch it below.
