Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar says if elected, he will ensure Nigeria is restructured within six months.

The former Vice President made the vow during the PDP presidential diaspora campaign grand finale held in Abuja.

Represented by Deputy Director, Research and Strategy, of the PDP presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, Atiku said that sufficient research work needed to achieve restructuring across the six geo-political zones had been concluded.

He said that Nigeria was a great country which worked better when each region controlled its natural resources.

According to him, the country can work again, and all that is required is good leadership.

Atiku said; “When we are talking about restructuring by Executive Order, in the first six months, this country will not be what you are seeing today.

“This has been worked out and I’m just waiting to be sworn in on May 29 and the plans will be rolled out. We will provide that kind of leadership”.

Meanwhile, the PDP Presidential flagbearer earlier promised to end insecurity if he becomes president.

Atiku spoke on Monday while speaking to Party supporters in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital.

He extended his sympathy to the people of the state who have been at the receiving end of bandit attacks which has led to hundreds of death over the last couple of years.

Atiku said; “We have been looking forward to come to Zamfara because of what we are reading on social media, now we have seen that it is true. Firstly I want use this opportunity to condole and sympathise with you I know that apart from the people of Borno and Yobe there is state that suffered the loss of people apart from you as a result of banditry, armed bandits among others, we pray that God will bring this to an end, but the end of it all is if God wills it is to vote for PDP, because APC brought this evil in the last seven to eight years of its administration.

“They brought insecurity, poverty, and disunity; our youth are not going to school because teachers are not paid in secondary and tertiary institution. With your vote you will expunge them. I promised to restore peace and security in Nigeria I have done it in the past I, so, see no reason why with your support and backing by the grace of God there wont be peace in Nigeria.

“Secondly the people of Zamfara are known for trading, farming, rearing today none of these exist, therefore with your support we will restore all businesses, ensure that all our youth are schooling without hitches.”
