Arsenal Won’t Sign Kevin De Bruyne Because Of Odegaard – William Gallas

Arsenal legend, William Gallas, has said that he doesn’t think Kevin De Bruyne will join the Gunners this summer.

He recently revealed that such a move is unlikely despite KDB being linked with a potential move to Arsenal.

Speaking recently during an interview with Genting Casino, Gallas revealed that signing De Bruyne will definitely pose a threat to Odegaard’s role in Arteta’s team, so he doubts that the Spanish manager will even contemplate letting that happen.

According to him, it is impossible for any top club to have 2 superstars occupying the same position, therefore, Arteta would prefer to stick with his captain and avoid hindering his development at the Emirates Stadium.

“Kevin De Bruyne might be an option for Arsenal, but he would clash with Martin Odegaard. You can’t have two players in the same position and it might just make things harder for both of them,” he said.

On if Chelsea could sign the Belgian midfielder, the Frenchman insisted that a potential KDB signing would also be a problem with Cole Palmer around.

Gallas believes De Bruyne coming in would also hamper Palmer’s development at Stamford Bridge, and potentially force the English midfielder to play out wide against his wish.

He revealed that because Palmer had to leave Manchester City to avoid being regularly benched for the same KDB, it’ll certainly be a move he won’t be happy with.

“Signing Kevin De Bruyne would be a good opportunity for Chelsea, but there is one problem. The issue is having two playmakers in the same position, it might harm the development of Cole Palmer because he would have to play out wide again.

“It happened when they were both at Manchester City, that’s why we saw Palmer move to Chelsea and look at what he has done since. It would be exciting to see De Bruyne back at Chelsea, but it would be a very difficult situation for the manager,” he added.
