Arne Slot Says Winning The EPL Title In His First Season Feels Unbelievable, Praises Klopp For Laying The Foundation

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, has revealed that he is very proud to be a part of the club’s history.

Speaking to the press after a 5-1 win at Anfield against Tottenham to win the EPL title with Liverpool, the Dutch manager said that it still feels unbelievable that he won the league in his first season in England.

According to him, it was simply impossible for his players to delay the title party by one more week after needing just one point vs Tottenham, so he always knew they would get the job done at Anfield.

“Looking back I have enjoyed the whole day. You could see looking in their eyes how much it meant to them today. It was impossible to us to not get that point or win today. What else is there to say? It is unbelievable. From this moment now I am part of the history of this great football club,” he said.

After the game, the ex-Feyernoord manager sang Jurgen Klopp’s name to a packed stadium – almost 12 months after the German manager did something quite similar for his replacement just before he took over as head coach.

Slot definitely had big shoes to fill after Jurgen Klopp quit Liverpool last summer, and while many expected the Reds to take some time to acclimatise to their new gaffer, the Dutchman immediately led the team he has only just met to another EPL title.

Many have said Arne keeps referencing Klopp from time to time because he realises the fact that the German deserves a lot of praise for building the foundation of what has turned out to be a massively successful domestic season.

Slot has now gone into the history books as the only sixth manager in the history of the Premier League to win the title in his maiden campaign in England, and Liverpool and Manchester United are currently tied as the only 2 English football clubs to win the EPL title 20 times.

Hopefully, the newly-crowned champions of England will have something left in the tank when they take on Enzo Maresca’s team next at Stamford Bridge on the 4th of May.
