Arne Slot Says Liverpool Haven’t Won The EPL Title Yet, Warns Against Complacency Despite Needing Only One Point

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, has revealed that his team still have a job to do in the EPL.

Despite needing just one point to lift the English Premier League title today, Slot insisted that the players are still very much aware that it is not over until it is.

According to him, he knows that the last time Liverpool won the league was during the COVID period, so the fans at Anfield must support the team as much as possible on its quest to another EPL title after many years.

“It’s a big responsibility. We are aware that the last time this club won the league was during the Covid time. So everybody is looking forward to Sunday.

But we know there’s still a job to do. We need at least one point. That is what we know and, hopefully, what our fans know as well when they come to the stadium that they support us in the best possible way as they have done all season, but also be aware of the fact that we still need a point.

It’s a nice game to look forward to but also a responsibility we have for Sunday,” he said.

Speaking on whether he envisaged how successful his debut season has been at Anfield, Slot said yes, adding that working on a new style of play as soon as he took over from his predecessor was always the plan for success.

Slot disclosed that even if Liverpool were still exhausted after they came back from their holidays, he knew that he only needed to refresh the squad a bit to usher them into a new era without the legendary German manager, Jurgen Klopp.

“I’ve said many times, when you come in, you just look at how things are looking around you and then you work with your players to create a playing style, which we already knew we wouldn’t change too much.

But when players come back from holidays, you need to refresh them a bit on what is expected of them here. Then if you walk through the doors here or at Anfield, you know this club has to win trophies. That doesn’t change when I walked through that door,” Slot said.

The Dutch manager concluded by saying he is not getting carried away by the reality of the EPL title being super close, because it was a very hard task to even beat a Leicester City that was condemned to relegation. According to him, his current thought is on ensuring he prepares all his players to finish the job they all started, and that is the only thing he thinks about nowadays.

“The only thing I think about is hopefully all the players are available and prepare them.

I know how hard it was to win against a team [Leicester City] that was close to relegation. It was hard to get the win over the line. I am not getting carried away at all,” he said.
