Angry youths vandalise bank in Ibadan over inability to get cash (Video)

Protesting youths on Friday vandalised a Wema Bank in Ibadan, Oyo State, over the shortage of naira being experienced across the country.
An irate mob barricaded major areas like Iwo road, Gate and other routes in Ibadan North East local government area.
A video making the rounds online shows a crowd hurling objects at the bank building leading to the destruction of the windows and doors.
Some of the frustrated youths were heard shouting in Yoruba language: “lori owo wa” which translates despite being our money.

Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari appealed for 7 days grace to resolve the naira scarcity issue.
Presidential aide, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Friday, said Buhari’s request is sequel to a meeting he held with members of the Progressive Governors Forum at the State House.
He gave indications that he would within seven days resolve the cash crunch plaguing Nigerians as a result of the policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria to change high-value Naira notes with new ones.
He indicted some bank management, saying, “Some banks are inefficient and only concerned about themselves, even if a year is added, problems associated with selfishness and greed won’t go away.”
Buhari added; “I will revert to the CBN and the Minting Company. There will be a decision one way or the other in the remaining seven days of the 10-day extension.”
