Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has accused the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) of deliberately overlooking Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta.
He recently revealed that the movie star keeps getting denied the award due to biases within the industry.
Speaking via a video posted on his Instagram page, Portable said there is an obvious gang up against Ibrahim Chatta in the Nigerian entertainment industry, since that has to be the only reason why he has yet to win an award despite his amazing acting skills.
According to him, he can liken the disregard for the actor’s talent to his own situation with the Headies awards recently, stressing that politics keeps getting in the way of rewarding talented professionals.
“My fans, there is a gang up in the Nigerian entertainment industry, even in Nollywood. They didn’t give Ibrahim Chatta an award at the 11th AMVCA despite his impeccable acting. That was how I was also snubbed by The Headies Awards,” he said.
Portable maintained that while some celebrities resort to paying money to buy awards, that is something he’ll never do.
The singer concluded by saying God will reward Ibrahim Chatta if man refuse to award him because he is an inspiration to a lot of people.
“We don’t need awards. We need food, we need money. We have money but we can’t use money to buy awards like some persons.
Ibrahim Chatta, if they don’t award you, God will reward you. My boss, you are my mentor. I love you,” he added.
Recall that Chatta himself recently addressed his continued exclusion from the AMVCA event, expressing indifference toward the prestigious event.
During an interview with skit maker, Isbae U, he questioned why he does not get nominated by the organizers despite admitting that he is not really interested in awards.
“I have thought about it, why don’t they invite me because I see younger people attending and winning. Do you know how many awards are in my house?
I am not interested, why will I be praying for what I am not interested in? Whenever I am interested, I will submit a film and give it to them to see,” he said.
