Afghanistan: Taliban boasts, shows off 300 military vehicles left behind by America

According to Forbes in 2021: “The U.S. provided an estimated $83 billion worth of training and equipment to Afghan security forces since 2001. This year, alone, the U.S. military aid to Afghan forces was $3 billion.” Even CNN reported that the US gave “a total of $18.6 billion of equipment to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) from 2005 to August 2021.” Of that total, “equipment worth $7.12 billion remained in Afghanistan after the US withdrawal was completed on August 30, 2021.”

$7 billion is a conservative estimate of the value of what was left behind, and it is still, of course, quite a considerable number. The money that was spent on this materiel could have been put to much better use for the benefit of taxpaying Americans. Instead, enemy forces are using weaponry that American tax dollars paid for in order to advance their mission of imposing and increasing the scope of Sharia. Now, once again courtesy of the American taxpayers, the Taliban is boasting and gloating, sharing “pictures showing off over 300 military vehicles they claim to have restored after they were left behind in the humiliating Allied withdrawal in 2021.” Afghanistan’s official Ministry of National Defence shared the photos.

It has also emerged that the Pakistani Taliban, too, are now using weapons and night vision devices that America left behind in Afghanistan. It isn’t only equipment the the Biden administration left behind, either. A few days ago, Secretary of State Antony Blinken admitted that Americans were still stranded in Afghanistan, and many are being held captive by the Taliban.

Let’s hope that it’s possible for America to recover from the incalculable losses incurred by the Biden administration on every level, including the damage done on the global stage, where the U.S. now has little to no clout.

“Boasting Taliban share images of repaired military vehicles left by the West,” by Richard Ashmore, Express, March 25, 2023:

EXCLUSIVE: Photographs shared by the official Ministry of National Defence, Afghanistan, showed line upon line of military vehicles the regime said were now ready for use.

The Taliban have shared pictures showing off over “300 military vehicles” they claim to have restored after they were left behind in the humiliating Allied withdrawal in 2021. In photographs shared on the official Twitter account of the of Ministry of National Defence, Afghanistan, rows upon rows of military support and attack units can be seen.

Alongside a video and pictures posted on Saturday, the Islamic fundamentalist regime said “41 types” of military vehicle had been repaired for service with the 203 Mansoori Army Corps, part of the Afghan National Army formed in October 2021.

According to the Taliban ministry, the haul of hardware includes over 150 types of Humvee in different configurations, as well as two “tanks”, hospital and supply trucks.

It’s estimated the US alone left $7 billion of military gear – including 78 aircraft, 12,000 Humvees and thousands of air-to-ground weapons, according to a report from the Pentagon last year.

In the photographs released by the Taliban Humvee-like vehicles can be seen with firing turrets mounted on top, as well as scores of support trucks lined up outside a dusty barracks.

Overall, it says as many as 300 vehicles that had been “destroyed” by Western forces leaving the country had been repaired.

A caption read: “As many as (300) types of intermediate military vehicles that were destroyed and unusable were restored and ready for use by the technical team of Abu Dojaneh Brigade of Al-Badr Army.”

The account said after an inspection by the commander of the company, the vehicles had all been approved for use.

Despite the apparent military show of power, the Taliban and Afghanistan have faced a deepening economic and humanitarian crisis since the regime took power from Western allies in 2021……
