Advisor to Iran’s Negotiating Team Celebrates Missile Attack at U.S. Consulate

While Biden tries to cut a deal with Iran, the Islamic terror state keeps amping up the terror with repeated attacks on Americans.

As I noted back in January, “On January 3rd, two suicide drones were aimed at the State Department’s Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center near the Baghdad International Airport. Two more terror drones targeted American forces deployed to fight ISIS at the Al Asad air base. The base has been repeatedly hammered by Iran-backed rocket attacks over the past year, most notably when 14 rockets struck the base over the summer causing several injuries.”

“There were repeated Iran-backed rocket strikes against Americans in Iraq throughout the last year totaling an estimated 25 separate attacks under the Biden administration.”

“On September 11, two drones launched an attack on U.S. forces at Erbil International Airport.”

This time the attack apparently targeted our consulate in Erbil.

As many as 12 missiles struck Iraq’s northern city of Irbil on Sunday near the U.S. consulate, Iraqi security officials said. A U.S. defense official said missiles had been launched at the city from neighboring Iran.

No injuries were reported. Officials in Iraq and the U.S. gave different accounts of the strike and the damage it caused. A second U.S. official said there was no damage at any U.S. government facility and that there was no indication the target was the consulate building, which is new and currently unoccupied.

An Iraqi official in Baghdad at first said several missiles had hit the U.S. consulate and that it was the target of the attack. Later, Lawk Ghafari, the head of Kurdistan’s foreign media office, said none of the missiles hit the U.S. facility but that areas around the compound had been hit by the missiles.”

Why the different stories? The Biden administration may not want to play up the fact that Iran continues attacking us even while the administration is offering over $100 billion in sanctions relief.

If the attack actually came out of Iran, this isn’t just the Shiite PMUs that are funded, trained, and commanded by Iran, but a more direct escalation.

As Jason Brodsky of UANI notes, Seyed Mohammad Marandi is an “advisor to #Iran’s nuclear negotiating team in Vienna Mohammad Marandi, who is also the son of the supreme leader’s personal physician”, had tweeted, “This was in #Erbil last night. This is just the beginning.”
