Veteran actress, Idowu Phillips, fondly called Iya Rainbow, has bared her mind on the rape issue concerning actor Baba Ijesha.

In an interview with BBC Yoruba, Iya Rainbow revealed that when the police originally announced Baba Ijesha’s arrest, she reached out to comedienne Princess and pleaded with her to dismiss the case against the actor for four days, but she didn’t listen to her.

She claims she tried everything humanly possible to persuade Princess not to escalate the issue, but she was unsuccessful. According to her, now that Baba Ijesha has been released on bond, the leadership of the Theater arts practitioners will seek a method to address the situation.

“Before the matter was settled, I asked the princess for four days not to take the matter to court. I urged her not to let this matter get louder, but she refused. Now, see how the whole thing played out” she said

Baba Ijesha was arrested in April 2021 for allegedly defiling Princess, the foster daughter of comedienne Baba Ijesha. On June 24, a special crimes court in Lagos granted him bail.

In other news, Nigerian actor, Yomi Fabiyi has reacted to the ban of actors, Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing by TAMPAN led by veteran actor, Jide Kosoko over their ‘misbehavior’ on social media following Baba Ijesha police case.

In a lengthy post Yomi Fabiyi made on his Instagram page, he cited that Iyabo Ojo allowed her emotions to take the better part of her as she involved herself in Baba Ijesha’s child molestation case and instead of trying to deal with it with her jungle style of justice, she should have rather allowed the law enforcement agencies to handle the case.

He bemoaned that marring the reputation of TAMPAN on social media gives the government a chance to restricts the association’s freedom of expression and he furthered that Iyabo Ojo’s display of ill-manners towards the leadership of the Nollywood industry means they insult their parents.
