9 Payment Service Bank (9PSB), Nigeria’s first payment service bank, has marked its 5th anniversary with a commemorative event at its Lagos headquarters, celebrating half a decade of growth, innovation, and service to Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
The event, held on November 24, 2025, began with a town hall meeting where the bank’s board charged employees and management to sustain a culture of excellence as the institution enters its next phase.
Paul T. Oki, the company’s board chairman, reaffirmed 9PSB’s vision during his address, praising the resilience of its workforce and calling for deeper innovation and collaboration.
“Today, we stand as a testament to what determination, innovation and unity of purpose can achieve,” he said. “Let this anniversary not only remind us of how far we have come but also inspire us to aim higher to pioneer new possibilities, transform more lives, and extend the impact of our mission.”

He added that the bank’s next chapter will require “greater innovation, stronger collaboration, and a deeper focus on customer experience and financial inclusion.”
Osa Odiase, the company’s acting chief executive officer, highlighted the bank’s milestones in expanding access to digital payments and strengthening financial inclusion nationwide. “In just five years, we have built a robust network of partners and agents across the country,” he said.
“We have enabled thousands of Nigerians to access essential financial services with ease and developed innovative digital payment solutions that continue to drive growth and profitability for our partners.”
Odiase noted that the bank’s future would be defined by deeper impact and greater innovation.
Since its establishment on November 23, 2020, 9PSB has expanded its footprint across Nigeria, growing to over 250 B2B partners, 5,000 agents, 80,000 individual customers, 600 corporate clients, and more than 10 million virtual accounts on its payment rails.

Beyond its commercial growth, the bank has invested heavily in financial literacy through CSR programmes that include training sessions for students in secondary schools and youth camps, as well as donations of educational materials across Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Maiduguri.
The anniversary event also featured recognition for long-serving staff members whose contributions have shaped the bank’s journey and success.
Five years after its founding, 9PSB says it remains committed to transforming how individuals and businesses access financial services, promising to deliver secure, seamless, and technology-driven payment solutions while deepening financial inclusion nationwide.
