1. 2. Lawyers, activists demand Emefiele’s immediate release: Several lawyers and civil society groups have expressed their disapproval of the continues imprisonment of Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The DSS had pressed charges against Emefiele for illegal possession of firearms shortly after a Federal High Court in Abuja declared his arrest and detention a violation of his fundamental rights ordered his release within a two-day timeframe.

More lawyers have now denounced the continued detention of Emefiele and have demanded his immediate release.
