The Coalition of Yoruba Defenders has called on the CEO of the Akpabio/Barau Stability Group, Senator Alli Ndume, to stop pulling the name of President Bola Tinubu in the Senate presidential election.

This is contained in a statement signed by its chairman, Dr. Olukunle Bademos, made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Friday.

It will be recalled that Senator Godswill Akpabio was summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over corruption allegations. Ndume, on the other hand, dismissed claims by Akpabio’s opponents and their loyalists on the allegations leveled against the former governor of Akwa Ibom. “It is not surprising that whenever a politically vicious person contests an election, some people are sponsored to raise issues against him.

“Don’t forget that President Bola Tinubu has been accused several times, even when he is campaigning for the presidency.

“We really don’t care what the sponsored groups say about Akpabio. The transplant agencies know what to do. Why are they teaching them what to do?” Ndume said.

However, Bademosi said Akpabio should not be compared to Tinubu as the president has never had problems with any anti-corruption agency.

According to him, it was wrong and insulting for Ndume to tie the name of the president to the challenges facing Akpabio in his bid for Senate President.

“Ndume should stop comparing Akpabio with the president, who has never been accused of any nonsense either as governor of Lagos or in the service of the state. “There were never charges brought against the president, and he was never summoned for questioning by the EFCC,” he said.

Bademosi, however, called on all senators elected in Yorubaland and other parts of the country to vote only for senior officials who have no connection with the agencies opposed to the transfer.
